Program Specific Outcomes

  • Critical Thinking:- Students will be able to critically analyse and understand the texts by applying theories and identifying patterns.
  • Effective Communication:- The capacity of expressing critical and rhetoric ideas in speech will make their language effective.
  • Social Interaction:- The students will interact effectively with the delegates, faculties and the other leading personalities as well as the other members of the society.
  • Writing: The students will be able to understand and learn the creative writing, and will develop their cognitive skills to differentiate between formal and informal writing.
  • Ethics:- The students will be able to adapt and follow the moral conundrums of daily life, and will be able to recognize the right path on the basis of the values inculcated in them by the institution.

Course Specific Outcomes

  • HISTORY OF ENGLISH LITERATURE:- In this paper students will come across the background, history , range, significance and development of English Literature from the beginning to the contemporary era. Growth and evolution of language also would be there to enhance their cognitive skills.
  • Poetry from Chaucer to Modern period:- Development and understanding of Poetry and acquirement of rudiments of Rhetoric and Prosody.
  • Dramas from the Elizabethan to the Modern period:- Textual analysis of specific texts, enable students to understand the evolution, development and the structure of dramas from thematic and critical points of views.
  • Novel, Essays and Short stories: Progress of their adaptation and acquaintance with fiction and non-fiction from the Jacobean to the Modern period. Critical examining of Novels from 18th century onwards along with commonwealth and Diaspora writings.
  • Criticism: Close and textual analysis of the theories and fundamental development in their evolution from Plato to T.S. Eliot, and to understand the viewpoints of New Criticism.
  • Indian English Literature: To understand and get acquaintance with the different genres of writings in English literature from India.
  • American Writing:- To understand the features of American culture and works of significant writers of poetry, Dramas and Prose fiction from the wide range of Literary history.
  • Linguistics: Evolution, Adaptation and Development of English language will enable students to get indebted with the various forms and skills of English language.
